Description: This class will introduce the freely available health information resources for K-12 health professionals provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Participants will be equipped with knowledge of consumer health sites covering general health, drug information, and environmental health with emphasis on MedlinePlus. This course qualifies for Medical Library Association, Consumer Health Information Specialization Levels 1 and 2.

Educational Objective: This class provides an overview of consumer health resources freely available from the National Library of Medicine (NLM). By the end of the session participants will be able to: • Identify at least 3 consumer health resources from the National Library of Medicine • Locate resources to be shared with colleagues and caregivers • Find mobile resources from the National Library of Medicine.

Need for This Course: This course has been requested from network members as there has been an increase in K-12 outreach based on the ongoing NN/LM K-12 Taskforce, specifically for K-12 Health professionals.

The instructional methods used include Lecture, Demonstration, Slides, Discussion, and Hands-on Exercises.

Facility Requirements: Class can be lecture style, in computer lab or webinar/Moodle.

Additional Evaluation: MLA Evaluation will be used.
